Physical events are very important to ITFA, and the annual conference is undoubtedly the most important annual gathering in our diary. We are, however, conscious of the carbon footprint created by holding physical events and therefore ITFA is committed to making significant yearly donations to take responsibility for the unavoidable emissions. To do so, we proudly partner with myclimate to calculate the conference’s carbon footprint and support projects throughout the world at reducing CO2-emissions to the same extent.
myclimate is a Zürich-based not-for-profit organization that has been active in effective climate protection for over 20 years, both locally and globally. Together with partners from the economic sector as well as individuals, it wants to shape the future of the world through consultation, education and climate protection projects. myclimate pursues this as a market-oriented and customer-focused non-profit organisation. With projects of the highest quality (Gold Standard, Plan Vivo and VCS (including CBB and/or SD VISta)), myclimate promotes quantifiable climate protection and sustainable development worldwide. Furthermore, it encourages everyone to achieve something for the future, through interactive and action-orientated educational programs. myclimate also offers consultancy on integrated climate protection with tangible added value. This is done through IT solutions, labelling, analyses and resource management.
Last year was the first time ITFA entered into partnership with myclimate, and we are currently in the process of finalizing the assessment of the carbon emissions created by the annual conference of 2022. One observation we made was that unfortunately very few used the opportunity to offset their travel to the conference, we are of course hoping for a higher amount of participation this year.
If you or your company are using other providers to offset emissions created by business travel, kindly let us know, so we can include this in the calculations. Please email the ITFA Secretariat info@itfa.org.
